Waiting on Wednesday (191)

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, that spotlights
upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson

For the past five years, Hayley Kincaid and her father, Andy, have been on the road, never staying long in one place as he struggles to escape the demons that have tortured him since his return from Iraq. Now they are back in the town where he grew up so Hayley can attend school. Perhaps, for the first time, Hayley can have a normal life, put aside her own painful memories, even have a relationship with Finn, the hot guy who obviously likes her but is hiding secrets of his own.

Will being back home help Andy’s PTSD, or will his terrible memories drag him to the edge of hell, and drugs push him over? The Impossible Knife of Memory is Laurie Halse Anderson at her finest: compelling, surprising, and impossible to put down.

Release Date: January 7, 2014

  2. I really like the synopsis and the cover of this book.
I've read only a few books with PTSD and it was usually the main character who had it.
I like that in this one, the dad has it. I'm interested in seeing how this will affect their relationship.
This is new to me, so thank you for sharing! :)

    Happy Reading! :)

  6. Great pick but not for me, returning from Iraq and PTSD. I do like the fact that the author is drawing attention to these issues however. ~Sheri

  10. She never shies away from the tough topics! I'll definitely be grabbing this one, even though I anticipate it being difficult to get through because it will probably be intense. Great pick!
