Top Ten Books I Want To Give As Gifts

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

1. I want to give Amber Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta, because as much as we have shared books with each other and read the other's picks, she has not read my all-time favorite book.

2. I NEED to give Erica The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima simply because you cannot claim to love high fantasy, without reading one of the best series in YA in this category. It's a series I'd recommend to all Graceling fans.

3. I'd give my sister every book I've loved if she would only read them. Last year I gave her Jellicoe, Hunger Games, Cracked Up to Be by Courtney Summers and Ballads of Suburbia by Stephanie Kuehnert. She still needs to read those before I get her more :(

4. I would give Daughter of Smoke and Bone to any YA readers who, like me, pride themselves to be non-paranormal readers and reluctant to read paranormal romances. This is one of the many exceptions to my rule.

5. I  would give Lori Stay With Me by Paul Giffin and Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally because she has excellent taste in books and she loves a well done romance. Don't we all?

6. I would also give author Lisa Schroeder Catching Jordan because she loves Friday Night Lights and sweet fun books.

7. I'm giving my grandmother Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly as soon as I find it in Spanish.

8. I bought a new pretty "deluxe" copy of The House at Pooh Corner by A.A. Milne for my daughter who just started reading. It'll still be some time before she can read a chapter book but I want her to read that one first. I also got her the Tangled Read-Along as a Santa gift because it's awesome!

9. I'm buying an adult book, We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver for myself so I can read it before the movie comes out. I eavesdropped (through twitter) on some authors including Stephanie Perkins raving about it!

10. It's only fitting that I buy myself two books since well, I'm me, so I'll also get The Lover's Dictionary because I haven't read it and David Levithan is one of my favorite authors and because Lori wont shut up about it!

  3. You will love The Lover's Dictionary! It;s so beautiful. I have had We Need to Talk About Kevin on my TBR for a long time. I should get to it!

I really, really want to read Stay With Me! It sounds like something I would love. I might buy it as a birthday present to myself! I'm so torn on Catching Jordan! Everyone is raving about it, and in all honesty it sounds like a book I would really like. Except my husband is a huge, huge football fan and he talks about it constantly, so I have this very traditional outlook on football and I don't know if I could visualize a female quarterback lol. That probably doesn't make any sense, but if you think I will love it I'll add it to my read list! :)

  4. Stay With Me, Catching Jordan, and The Daughter of Smoke and Bone. All three I'm dying to read. Haha I'm the opposite of you I love reading paranormal books. But yes all three books I definitely want to read, especially Stay With Me that one sounds truly amazing. The others do too but I want that one first lol.

  8. I *almost* picked up a copy of Jellicoe Road at B&N the other week, but didn't. I swear one day I WILL read this book!

And I really need to get Daughter of Smoke and Bones. Everyone and their mother keeps talking about it!
