Audiobook Reviews (1)

In which I share my opinion of audio-books I've listened to.

Demon King, The (A Seven Realms Novel)The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima (Narrated by Carol Monda)

I started with this one because this is on of the best audio-books I've listened to. I fell in love with the story and the magic of the narrator's story telling. I love listening to faraway stories of kings and queens and magical lands so I was quite sure I would love this. But it surpassed my expectations. The book was awesome and the narrator even better. I've already read book 2 and 3 but I cant wait to listen to both on audio form.

Book:  ★★★★★
Narrator:  ★★★★★
Recommended audio? YES yes YES!

White Cat (Curse Workers, Book 1)White Cat by Holly Black (Narrated by Jesse Eisenberg)

YES! you read right... JESSE Freakin' EISENBERG. Yes, The Social Network kid. Back to the book now. Like I said in my review not my favorite from Holly, yet I think it was enjoyable in audio form. Normally young male voices are difficult for me to enjoy, but Cassel's voice and narration felt natural and characteristic. Jesse makes Cassel sound even more yummy.

Book:  ★★★★
Narrator:  ★★★★
Recommended audio? Jesse!! So YES!

Prophecy of the Sisters (Prophecy of the Sisters Trilogy, Book I)Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink (Narrated by Eliza Dushku)

I wanted to listen to this one as soon as I learned it was Eliza Dushku who narrated. I love her from Bring It On and Dollhouse. I enjoyed her voice but honestly, I did not enjoy the narration very much. Nor did I enjoy the book much either, which was weird for me since I like historical fiction so much and this book has excellent reviews. Sadly, I ended up reading the last part because I just didn't want to listen anymore.

Book:  ★★★
Narrator:  ★★
Recommended audio? Unfortunately, no.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella (Twilight Saga)The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephanie Mayer (Narrated by Emma Galvin)

I had very low expectation for this because, lets face it... we already knew what happened. So why go and tell something from the pov of a character who barely appeared in another book? Anyway, I picked it up anyway because it's only 4 discs and I'd listen to it fairly fast. But it was a pleasant surprise to find I was so wrong. I ended up glued to listening and almost didn't stop til I was finished. The narrator was really good and the story has twists and a plot of it's own, much more than we knew.

Book:  ★★★★
Narrator:  ★★★★★
Recommended audio? YES!

  1. I've never managed to find an audio book that held my attention. I've started many, but finished none.

  3. Thanks for the recommendations, I am always looking for good audio books. Right now I am listening to Karen Marie Monings Fever series and OMG is it fantastic. These are books I could not bring into my classroom so it works well for me to have them on audio. Great narration and fantastically dark story.
