Gone - Lisa McMann

**Spoiler Alert: 3rd book in a series

Young Adult
Pages: 224
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Release Date: February 9, 2010

Things should be great for Janie—she has graduated from high school and is spending her summer with Cabel, the guy she’s totally in love with. But deep down she’s panicking about how she’s going to survive her future when getting sucked into other people’s dreams is really starting to take its toll.
Things get even more complicated when she meets her father for the very first time—and he’s in a coma. As Janie uncovers his secret past, she begins to realize that the choice thought she had has more dire consequences than she ever imagined.

Definitely not the ending I was hoping for. However, maybe it was the fact that I'm so in love with the first two books thus with the characters and that made me enjoy this one as well. The father twist was certainly surprising, and her whining got tiresome at times but I could totally understand her. Plus, Cabel... he's my number one book crush of all times. So I'm pretty faithful to the series.

I do accept that I liked first two books much much more than this one, specially book 2 (FADE) but I don't feel disappointed. There was no right ending and this ending seems very appropriate. The plot flowed nicely and the writing was awesome, just as awesome as the rest of the books.

I must say, if she would have ended it in book 2, there wouldn't have been much of a difference. I'm probably not making any sense, I know. I have contradicting feelings about this book because I love the series and even though this book was not bad, I feel it brought nothing new. It just shook things a little more and then presented the obvious ending with a new-found sense of closure. But anyhow, if you read the first two, you're bound to read this one too.

If you haven't read this series, I highly recommend it. It's nothing like any other book out there. Extremely original.

  3. I completely agree! It wasn't the ending I wanted, and I was slightly disappointed. Still, Wake and Fade are brilliant, so no worries! :)
