At twenty-two years old, Sydney is enjoying a great life: She's in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers that Hunter is cheating on her--and she's forced to decide what her next move should be.
Soon, Sydney finds herself captivated by her mysterious and attractive neighbor, Ridge. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there's something about Sydney that Ridge can't ignore, either. They soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one.
Oooh, my heart! Someone please scoop up the pieces of my melted heart. This book was astoundingly, unbelievably, heartstoppingly sexy and *blows out air* just... amazing. I have the ultimate sap-radar and I cant stand insta-love or slobbery romance. But this? Oh gee. I have no words for it. It melted away my sap radar with the pure awesomeness within its pages.
Sydney just went through one of the most shameful and terrible moments of her life and is now homeless, broke and heartbroken. Thankfully, the mysterious guitar player she's been watching and texting, gives her a place to stay until she's back on her feet.
A standing ovation to whoever wrote the description of the book. Normally, they give either way too much or too little info. Sometimes they ruin entire aspects of the novel. This one said just enough, without spoiling anything. So don't go reading too many spoilery reviews so you may enjoy this book at its fullest.
What a cruel, cruel world without a real Ridge in it. I have not ever in my life fallen so head over heels in drooling, sappy love with a fictional character before. He made my heart beat, beat, pause every time I simply read his name. And there's no explaining what happened to my feelings every time he spoke a word. Unreal. I'm so glad I'm not Sydney because I would be a pathetic drooly shameful mess in front of him.
With that said, for those of you who are not convinced yet, this is a glowing masterpiece of a romantic novel. If you're looking for a book to literally sweep you off your feet and mess with you in ways that few books can, buy this NOW. I know it has certainly ruined my ability to move on to another book for a while. I'll just read it over and over until I can rip Ridge out of the pages... ;)
If you can grab the audio of it I can tell you it'll pull at your heart ten times more. With two alternating narrators, both equally talented, this audio version fits the book perfectly. I adored the narrator that played Sydney and her intense pauses, and props for finding such an incredibly sexy voice for Ridge. I cannot recommend it enough.
