Top Ten Most Vivid Worlds/Settings In Books

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and Bookish.

1. Seven Realms-- Seven Realms series by Cinda William Chima. Epic world-building. Best high fantasy series ever.

2. Rollrock-- The Brides of Rollrock Island by Margo Lanagan. Just read this a few weeks back and the setting and feel of the world it unravels in is just astonishingly vivid.

3. Panem-- The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. Seeing that the movie's landscapes look exactly like they had in my head, that's one hell of a vivid world.

4. Plague City (Did we ever get the name?)-- Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin. This world was just gloomily awesome. It was the main reason I liked this book so much.

5. Remote island off the coast of Wales-- Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. Another gloomily atmospheric book.

6. A very cool city in Australia-- Grafitti Moon by Cath Crowley. Ah, street art. I adore this book. An awesome story that vividly captures an urban setting.

7. New World-- Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness. Kick ass dystopian world-building.

8. Crystal Cove, California-- Moonglass by Jessi Kirby. No other beach set book has managed to tattoo the beach image in my head like this one did.

9. Magic Fish Island-- Teeth By Hannah Moskowitz. I won't say much about it except it's all-over awesome. And the setting is a main part of the story, and it was impeccably done.

10. Florida somewhere-- Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols. This is another one where I can easily picture the trailer and the airport and pretty much every place any scene was set.

  1. I love The Seven Realms books, but they didn't make my list for best worlds. I almost feel like I'm betraying them! I did include Crystal Cove as one of my honorable mentions, though. Great list. Still need to read several of these. :)
