Waiting On Wednesday (147)

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys

Known amongst locals as the daughter of a brothel prostitute, Josie wants more out of life than The Big Easy has to offer. She devises a plan get out, but a mysterious death in the Quarter leaves Josie tangled in an investigation that will challenge her allegiance to her mother, her conscience, and Willie Woodley, the brusque madam on Conti Street. Caught between the dream of an elite college and a clandestine underworld, New Orleans lures Josie in her quest for truth, dangling temptation at every turn, and escalating to the ultimate test.

  1. I am so excited to see that Sepetys has another book coming! And this certainly looks different from Between Shades of Gray, which was an excellent gripping emotional read.

  10. I had an opportunity to meet Ruta at Teen Book Con and was completely fascinated by the process in which she wrote Between Shades of Gray. I can't imagine what she did and researched to write this one!

I will definitely be adding this book to my GR. Thanks for such a fabulous pick, Sab :-)

  17. I still haven't read Between Shades of Grey, but I've heard really good things about it (I think I avoided it because I heard that it's a heavy read). I'll have to add both to my list!
