Such a Rush - Jennifer Echols

Young Adult
Pages:336
Publisher: MTV Books
Release Date: July 10, 2012

High school senior Leah Jones loves nothing more than flying. While she’s in the air, it’s easy to forget life with her absentee mother at the low-rent end of a South Carolina beach town. When her flight instructor, Mr. Hall, hires her to fly for his banner advertising business, she sees it as her ticket out of the trailer park. And when he dies suddenly, she’s afraid her flying career is gone forever.

But Mr. Hall’s teenage sons, golden boy Alec and adrenaline junkie Grayson, are determined to keep the banner planes flying. Though Leah has crushed on Grayson for years, she’s leery of getting involved in what now seems like a doomed business — until Grayson betrays her by digging up her most damning secret. Holding it over her head, he forces her to fly for secret reasons of his own, reasons involving Alec. Now Leah finds herself drawn into a battle between brothers — and the consequences could be deadly.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

Even better than Going Too Far, imho. LOOOOOVED it.

So okay. It's common knowledge that Jennifer Echols is a genius. Going Too Far was one of the most outstanding debuts ever in YA (in my book). It created a crowd of fangirls salivating for more Echols' dramatic romances. But her next two books, while very enjoyable, did not compare to the first. Forget You had one of the most steamy awesome scenes I've read, it still didn't match John After's and Meg's awesome story.

Now, with her hardcover debut she has done it again. SO MUCH BETTER. Leah is a freakin' PILOT. How effin kickass is that? I'm such a wuss to even hop on a plane that, that fact alone blew my mind. She also lives in a trailer and struggles to eat, which makes her my hero. And then there's the boys. Realistic fiction love triangle with brothers? 'Nough said. Even though it's always pretty obvious who she'd end up with, it was still a delicious adventure to read about the brothers and all the twists.

The story sucks you in very fast, and just like Going Too Far, you have to start figuring things out on your own as you go, which makes the pace that much more awesome. I'm glad it doesn't dwell on unimportant details and it sticks pretty much to the romance part of it. Excellent pacing, well-developed amazing characters, and sigh-worthy romance, need more? I don't.

If you love contemporary YA and sexy romance this is a MUST read.

  2. I'm not a big fan of love triangles and I hate when they involve brothers so I'm a little worried about that aspect even though I think the idea of flying sounds great!

  8. Brilliant review! I really want to read this book and your review has made me even more excited!
I adore love triangles and hate them all at once since I'm usually always siding with just one out of the two love interests! I can never really love both which can be quite frustrating!
