Top Ten Books to Read in a Day (Verse novels)

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and Bookish.

Since it's poetry month, I will make a list of books that I know I ALWAYS finish in a day: VERSE novels. Obviously, Ellen Hopkins should appear but since her books are so dark I always have to put them down a bit. Anyhow, some I've read, some I'm excited to read:

1. Chasing Brooklyn by Lisa Schroeder

2. Love and Leftovers by Sarah Tregay

3. The Realm of Possibility by David Levithan

4. The Day Before by Lisa Schroeder (Okay, also, every book by Lisa!)

5. Inside Out and Back Again by Thanhha Lai (MG)

6. Crossing Stones by Helen Frost

7. Audition by Stacia Kehoe

8. Waiting by Carol Lynch Williams

9. Forget Me Not by Carolee Dean (I'm really excited to read this one!)

10. Falling for You by Lisa Schroeder (I CANNOT WAIT!) ** I was informed this is actually not in verse (see Lisa's comment on this post). Forgive my assumption. Although, this doesn't change my excitement at all.

  1. I should have added Inside Out and Back Again. What a wonderful book written in verse.

  5. Ohh I love the idea of a list of verse novels! I've never read any in verse (a bit scared, honestly), but I'm going to write down all your choices and give them a shot. Love and Leftovers is on hold at my library for me, so I'll start there. Thanks for all the suggestions!

  6. I've never read any verse novels, but I've heard great things about Lisa Schroeder's books, so I'll definitely look into giving her a try! I'm going to look into your other choices too, they all sound wonderful!

  7. I still need to read Love & Leftovers! I have it on my shelf. I just read The Realm of Possibility a couple of weeks ago. Sigh...it was so good. Great list!

  9. I didn't know Love and Leftovers was verse either! It sounds so adorable! I'd also add May B by Carolyn Rose
Starr to your list. It's a debut middle grades historical
Fiction in verse. A good but quick read :)

  13. It's so hard not to just pick up one of Lisa Schroeder's books and sit down and just ignore everything for a while. They go so fast, but they keep you so hooked into the stories. Chasing Brooklyn was amazing.

  15. Yay! You listed the Realm of Possibility, too! :D
Such a good book that tends to get overlooked by his others.

  16. I love your enthusiasm for verse novels!! LOVE IT! But I have to tell you this now, so you won't be disappointed next year. FALLING FOR YOU is actually not in verse. It has poetry sprinkled throughout, but it is written in regular old chapters. Just too much going on to try and tackle it in verse. I still hope you like it!! :)
