Audiobook Reviews (4)

In which I share my opinion of audio-books I've listened to.

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare (Narrated by Molly Quinn and Ed Westwick)
City of Fallen Angels (Mortal Instruments, Book 4)I was SO excited to listen to this one that I actually think I was too excited. Ed was the reason I was dying to listen to this. Ed's voice and accent are drool-worthy. Or so I thought. Sadly, his vocal/reading skills are not good. Sometimes he would speak so quietly I could barely hear what he was saying, when he should be keeping the same voice volume. Others, he would speak the same way for two different characters and I'd be confused as to who was talking. Molly, on the other hand, was GREAT. She definitely needs to do some more audiobooks. I loved her voice and did not get confused once when she was reading. The book was not as amazing as I thought it would be, very slow going in the first half, but by the end I liked it a lot. Jace, whom I used to love, became rather annoying in this book. But it was good that he did because I got to appreciate Simon some more!

When You Reach Me (Yearling Newbery)When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead (Narrated by Cynthia Holloway)
If you are one of the few, like i was, who still haven't read this, you should listen to it instead. I loved the narrator, she makes the story even more believable. It has a bit of magical touch in it, but still very realistic and thought-provoking. The narrator was great, she has a very young voice so it helped a lot with it being a middle grade novel and all. Really great short read.

RevolutionRevolution by Jennifer Donnely (Narrated by Emily Janice Card and Emma Bering)
LOVED this book! LOVED this audiobook! If you want to get hooked to audiobooks, pick this one up. It's told from two different perspectives in two different times, and in one point they overlap and merge. The narrators did it so incredibly well! The one that did Andy's voice sounded stubborn and stuck up just like her. I loved that narrator! And the one who did Alex had a delicious French accent (even though it slipped sometimes, if you don't really listen you wont catch it, so it's all good) that added so much to everything. This is probably my favorite audio I've listened to. Seriously. And the book was Ah-may-zing!

  1. Totally agree with you on Revolution! It's one of my all-time favorite audiobooks and definitely one of my favorite "reads" of 2011.

  2. I read Revolution but I can see that book being a pretty good audioboook I may check it out :D

I'm curious why Ed turned out to be a three star narrator but I absolutely REFUSE to read/listen to anything by Cassie Claire ever again so I'll keep wondering lol :P

  3. I also loved loved loved Revolution's audio version and have even listened to it more than once, but was disappointed with The City of Fallen Angels as I had listened to a couple of the other books in this series and they switched Clary's voice and added Ed's. It took me a while to get over that, but then the story swept me away and I got use to the differences.
