Today I wanted to share an important Scholastic campaign with you, and ask those of you who might be interested to go and take a look at the auctions.
"Read Every Day. Lead a Better Life. is a global literacy campaign launched as part of Scholastic’s 90th anniversary celebration that underscores the importance of reading to better prepare children of the 21st century to live complete and successful lives.
Twelve top children’s book illustrators created original artwork for Scholastic’s month-long online charity auction to benefit Reading Is Fundamental and Reach Out and Read, two amazing literacy organizations that have lost all federal funding, making it even more difficult for them to help the kids who need it the most.
To view the spectacular original artwork by all 12 artists, click HERE, where you can pick a favorite, place a bid, and put books into the hands of the neediest kids - and they’ll have a piece of original art by a beloved children’s artist that illustrates the important role of books in all our lives. Artists participating in the auction are: Norman Bridwell, Bruce Degen, Edwin Fotheringham, Mary GrandPré, Barbara McClintock, Jon J Muth, Sean Qualls, Stephen Savage, David Shannon, Jeff Smith, Mark Teague and Raina Telgemeier."
